Family Pathways Coaching: Helping parents navigate the journey of raising a neurodiverse child
When you have a neurodiverse child, it can often be difficult to see the road ahead. Whether their neurodiversity shows itself as physical, emotional, social, cognitive, neural or any combination, the very act of daily living can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disoriented, and even lost.
I can empathize. I’m Carol Siege, a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) who is also the doting mother of four sons, each of whom has been diagnosed with social/emotional special needs: from ADHD to OCD, from GAD to ASD, and then some. Yup, we are a veritable alphabet soup of neurodiversity!
My family has learned to appreciate one another and all our quirks and differences. And you can find a positive perspective too. Let me help you find your own set of tools for acceptance, forward movement, and perhaps a new way of living together.
Yes, neurodiversity can be a challenging road to navigate. But the hard part doesn’t have to define our lives. As you’ll see on the Services page, there are ways, amid this sometimes-confusing wilderness, we parents can:
- Accept ourselves, our families and our circumstances
- Get to know our own strengths and those of our children
- Understand ourselves, our motivations and our limits
- And perhaps most of all, find paths that bring us – and our families – growth, satisfaction and joy
We’ve had our struggles, but today, our sons are thriving, with all four working toward fulfilling careers, relationships and independent lives.
Drawing on my family's experience, I created Family Pathways Coaching to help other parents find within themselves the answers they need to manage the complex challenges that accompany neurodiverse children – without losing sight of themselves.
Of course, we all have different circumstances to navigate. But underneath it all, there is a parent’s love, support, and desire to make a positive difference that keeps us going.
